How to erase the startup config of an XR device?

In enable mode: wr er

write erase command wont work on XR devices

When you are in enable mode, or exec depending on what you call it, if you type erase what are your options?

I believe your option would be erase startup-config

go into configuration mode in ios-xr

make a small change such as "no hostname"

do

commit replace

that will wipe out the entire config.

What is your hardware platform?

Please try the following commands after removing the standby RP:

          commit replace

          commit replace best-effort

Do not forget to create a user before reloading the router as given below:

RP/0/RSP0/CPU0:ios(config)#username abc

RP/0/RSP0/CPU0:ios(config-un)#secret abc123

RP/0/RSP0/CPU0:ios(config-un)#group root-system 

RP/0/RSP0/CPU0:ios(config-un)#commit
