Error %IGMP-3-QUERY_INT_MISMATCH: Received a non-matching query interval 125, from querier address 192.168.1.5

Hi,

On my C897VAW router, I keep seeing the following error in the syslog:

%IGMP-3-QUERY_INT_MISMATCH: Received a non-matching query interval 125, from querier address 10.10.40.5

I've tried to fathom what it means, but its meaning is really beyond me. I know what device has the IP address 10.10.40.5, but it's powered off and I've tried everything I can think of to make sure there is nothing that happens to have the same IP address, which may be on.

Assuming there is nothing powered on with the IP 10.10.40.5, what is the reason I keep seeing the error message in the syslog? (The router has been rebooted, after turning off the device on 10.10.40.5).

Thanks,

W.

Hello,

do you need to have IGMP enabled ? Or are there applications on your network using multicast ? If you don't want to disable it altogether, check if you can enable version 3...(ip igmp verson 3 is I think the global command)...

Hello,

weird indeed, as IGMP is a multicast protocol which you would need to actively configure. What is the output of ;'show ip igmp interface' ?

You can probably get rid of the syslog message by configuring 'ip igmp query-interval 125' on your VLAN interface...

Hi Georg,

Hello,

Annoyingly I can't recall my I turned IGMP on. Maybe to do with PXE or trying to get a multimedia (audio video) device to work, designed for domestic routers.

The version option is under the vlan interfaces. I've removed it with:

no ip pim sparse-dense-mode

and "show ip igmp interfaces" is now empty.

Thanks W.

So the error message is gone ?

Yes. It's been 2 hours now and no sign of the error.

Thank you for your help.
