Error while connecting to the Wireless Router

Hi All

I have the following Wireless Router Cisco Aironet 1240AG and I have a SONY VIO N320-E/W Laptop.

It shows me under the available wireless networks and when I try to connect to it it fails and after diagonizing the problem I get the following message

Wireless Association failed because Windows did not receive any response from wireless router or access Point.

Can any one provide input on this error?

The issue may be that the user has not configured the SSID on the access point or else the same radio standard (a or b or g) 802.11 may not be enabled on the access point and the laptop. same radio should be configured on the laptop and the AP.
