ESR 6300 TFTP in ROMMON - Router not recognized by computer

Attempting to transfer firmware to a router in ROMMON mode. There is presently no firmware on the device. 

I did the configurations needed on the router to assign IPs, but the computer (with TFTP server) isn't recognizing the router. 

The ethernet cable is fine but nothing will come up, so I cannot initiate the transfer. 

Please let me know if you have any ideas.

When I say the computer isn't recognizing the router, I mean the network settings on the PC show "Ethernet not connected."

The port I am plugging into does have a solid green link light, but that is on whether or not there is a connection to the port. No other ports show link lights.

 - To avoid problems related to 'cable negotiations' use an intermediate dumb and or unmanaged switch in between (e.g.) ; (connect both devices to it)
