It is my understanding that cards such as these:
EHWIC-D-8ESG
do not support dynamic trunking protocol (DTP a.k.a. switchport mode dynamic auto/desireable). This seems to prevent me from cleanly implementing a zero-touch Smart Install of a 2960 switch cabled to an interface on the EHWIC-D-8ESG which I would like to be a trunk. STP on the new 2960 receives a dot 1Q bpdu and places the port in blocking state due to inconsistent port type. The workaround I have used is to first make the port on the EHWIC an access port, let the Smart Install process complete, then convert the port on the EHWIC to a trunk. It would be much cleaner and nicer if the EHWIC supported DTP. Maybe there is something I am missing and someone can educate me. It would also be nice to have the interface level bpduguard / bpdufilter commands available; doesn't seem that they are.
