Hi everone,
Please am looking for an Ethernet network module for a cisco ASR1006. A client has over 400 branches that will terminate on the router using rj45 connections.
please advice on the part number for this module.

Hi joseph,
what the customer wants is an asr1006 router that will be at the HQ and aggregrate 400 branch offices but the interface on the asr should be RJ45 port.
so which ethernet module will sit in the asr router, which will serve this purpose?
But am thinking of the module below:
SPA-2X1GE-V2= |
will it serve the purpose?
thanks

As what Joseph is asking, HOW MANY ports are you looking for. The module you've quoted "SPA-2X1GE-V2=" is only a single module with two 1 Gbps interfaces.

hi leo,
thanks for your response.
my client has about 400 branch offices that will be connected to the head office(HQ) via the WAN. so they require an asr1006 at the HQ that will be able to aggregrate all the 400 branches via the WAN port.
actuaclly we cannot have 400 physical interfaces on the asr1006 but i just want a WAN port on the asr1006 that has rj45 slot which can be configure to accomodate all the 400 branch connections.
i think they can configure VC / sub-interfaces on the WAN port that will take care of the 400 branch sites?
please advise.

Likely it would serve the purpose. Of course, for just one or two gig of bandwidth, a smaller ASR 1000 platform (including those with built-in gig ports) might suffice too. However, if you'll be loading up the 1006 chassis for other purposes, don't forget to size the ESP and RP for your needs, also consider with the 1006 whether you'll want second ESP and RP for redundancy.
