Fail-over to backup VPN

Hi,

We have a network with several branches that have a T1 line to our main location. We have Cisco routers at each  branch location in addition to ASAs or PIXs. The T1 carries traffic to the internal network and second ISP for Internet traffic. I have been asked to configure a fail-over using a vpn tunnel in the event the T1 goes down.

The branches have an router configuring their T1 connection and this is connected to the ASA/PIX. I know how to configure a vpn tunnel but how do I configure it to fail-over in the event the T1 goes down?

Thanks for any assistance!!

Are you running a routing protocol over your T1s?

Is your router the default gateway for LAN traffic?

Does the router have a default route pointing to the ASA?
