Gigabit Ethernet connection

Hi guys,

I am deploying a 100M EoSDH circuit from a service provider but I do not have a FE interface on my equipment. So the local service provider is giving me a fiber interface instead, with 100BaseFX (fiber to copper convertor) speed to connect to my GIBIC.

Can a 100BaseFX convertor using 1310nm MM fiber interface with a GIBIC WS-G5486 (1000BASE-LX/LH) on a Cisco 7200 or cat 6500 swithc?

Sorry to bring you the bad news but this is not going to work. (period)

The WS-G5486 is only capable of 1000Mb/s, not 100FX.
