HA between C8300 with ISR4431/K9

Hi,

We have two ISR4431/K9 running in HA mode (active-standby) in our core layer.

Now secondary router is damaged and we need to replace it. But ISR4431/K9 is already EOS/EOL and isnt orderable. So we need to go for upgraded model like c8300 series. Want to use C8300-1N1S-4T2X as secondary router.

I am wondering whether C8300-1N1S-4T2X (Standby) and ISR4431/K9 (Active) will work/support properly in HA mode.

Also please confirm active-active is possible or not.

Regards

Imran

Hello!

Replacing an ISR4431/K9 with a C8300-1N1S-4T2X in HA mode involves ensuring compatibility and configuration alignment. Cisco generally supports mixed-model HA setups, but it's essential to verify compatibility and feature parity between the routers for seamless failover. Typically, Cisco routers operate in active-standby mode rather than active-active. Before deployment, ensure both routers run compatible software versions, configure them accordingly, and conduct thorough testing to validate failover functionality. For specific guidance, consult Cisco Support or documentation on mixing ISR4431/K9 and C8300 series routers in HA configurations.
