HELP configuring Cellular0 on a Cisco881G

Hi Team,

I have a Cisco 881G with PCEX-HSPA-3G card for which I have successfully configured for internet.

As the above one has come to end of life, we got the replacement 881G with embedded 3G modem.

I can't get Cellular 0 to use ppp encapsulation:

Router(config-if)#encapsulation ppp

Cellular0: Only SLIP encapsulation supported

Router(config-if)#

This is on a Cisco 881G, the IOS is below

Hi Arjun,

For Cisco 880 series, we need to use IOS 12.4(22)YB1 or above to fully utilize HSPA support.

Thanks a lot for the reply.

I currently have the C881G+7-K9 with embedded modem where we do not need any express card and just need to insert the SIM card in a slot available behing the router.

So this IOS holds good for this as well?

I think this IOS should work.

Please try with this IOS first , if not works then upgrade with new one.

I have seen the link and they are for the old type of 881G routers.

The one I have are with embedded modem.

1. configure terminal

2. interface cellular unit

3. encapsulation ppp

4. ppp chap password 0

5. asynchronous mode interactive

6. ip address negotiated

Nope, when I enter the "encapsulation ppp" under cellular interface, I get the error message shown in my 1st post.

Can someone help in getting the updated IOS for c880data-universalk9-mz.151-4.M4.bin

try to download newest or early ios.

when working with 15th ios the errors are common

Hi,

Tried that but there is no data for the current IOS I am using.

When try to put the IOS in the Cisco Navigator, it gives an error telling there is no version.
