Hi All,
i just got a used Cisco 2821 router from Ebay. I have 1GB of memory in it and a 512 Flash card in it. The unit has no OS on it. Well it has a
rommon 1 >
Prompt.
How do I update it to the newest IOS? It doesn't have commands I am used to, like CD or tftp. I tried to use the TFTPDNLD, but it didn't work. I don't know what to do to get the IOS on it and up and running, can anyone help?
Thanks!
Mitch
P.S. There is no show command so I can't do a show run.

I have 1GB of memory in it and a 512 Flash card in it.
You can copy the IOS from your TFTP server to the CF flash directly using a multi-card reader.
Make sure the CF is formated with FAT16.

Can you give me steps on how to do that? I found a site that tells me how to transfer the image from a TFTP server, but once it is over, it doesn't seem to show up or boot up with it.

Do you have a multi-card reader which you can connect to your PC or laptop via USB?
