Help! Problem with Serial connection to Cisco 3725 Router.

I have a Cisco 3725 Router. I am having a problem accessing the Serial connection just as the title says. I have connected to it in the past just fine but suddenly I cannot do anything. At first after entering the serial connection I got (picture 1 "cisco1.png). No keys work. Enter, Space, or trying to exit. Then it became worse and went to (picture 2 "cisco2.png"). It's really annoying. Can't figure it out.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi

Are you using the correct COM port? Example, you could verify the COM port through device manager.

Image result for windows com port

Yes, I am doing it through Linux with Screen so anything Windows in nonapplicable.

Thank you for your input.

Hi,

I dont think the problem is related to speed, but you could try to change the terminal speed, the default is 9600.

Also you could verify if the console cable is working connecting it to other device in order to discard any problem with the console cable or adapter.

Speed is set to 9600. Cable is working fine on my Cisco Catalyst Switch.

Thank you,

it could be a problem with the router, is possible log in via SSH or telnet to the router?

I'll check on that. How do I SSH without knowing It's IP? The router is in a remote location in my house and the only way I access it is by SSHing into another machine with a console port and then from there starting a Serial Session with the router.

Thanks for your input.

Moving the router up to my desk for diagnostics. I will start with trying to SSH and see if I can access the web UI.
