I having an issue with SFPs with my Cisco router, the SFP should be compatible with the router as they are SFP1G-LX-31 *CO.

GigabitEthernet0/1 is administratively down, line protocol is down
Hardware is PQ3_TSEC, address is 6c20.56fc.c601 (bia 6c20.56fc.c601)
Internet address is 10.0.1.2/30
MTU 1500 bytes, BW 1000000 Kbit/sec, DLY 10 usec,
reliability 255/255, txload 1/255, rxload 1/255
Encapsulation ARPA, loopback not set
Keepalive set (10 sec)
Auto Duplex, Auto Speed, media type is unknown media type
output flow-control is unsupported, input flow-control is unsupported.
The software verison of my router is :
R2#sh version
Cisco IOS Software, C3900 Software (C3900-UNIVERSALK9-M), Version 15.1(4)M3, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)
Technical Support: http://www.cisco.com/techsupport

Compiled Tue 06-Dec-11 19:44 by prod_rel_team
ROM: System Bootstrap, Version 15.0(1r)M13, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)
Would I have to upgrade the software possible for it to work? or any commands I can use?
Any help will be appreciated, thanks.

Hello @dyl33,
here the matrix compatibility for C3945 ISR https://tmgmatrix.cisco.com/?si=3945
SFP1G-LX-31 *CO is the equivalent in "Cisco world" GLC-LH-SM Compatible Module SFP 1000BASE-LX/LH
When you insert the SFP do you have logging info to share here ?
Also, I prefer to stress that:
Your port is shut!

Sorry, I did notice that after lol.
I turn the port on and to sort of resolve the issue I used an RJ45 cable instead and it worked.
I can share more information tomorrow to understand why I had no luck
