HI All,

have a high cpu utilisation on 4500 switches, was able to identify the process L3 Rx Low is taking the cpu more than usual. Please help identify wat is this process.

Could you please capture the below output 2-3 times:

- show platform cpu packet driver
- show platform cpu packet statistics all

Also, Could you please check if any of the interfaces on the switch is having input queue drops.

from my understanding, the L3 Rx Low should be queue for control-plane / management traffic as i have seen situations where the queue can get wedged and the management traffic like ICMP, Telnet, SNMP etc gets impacted. 

Are you getting excess traffic for SNMP or ICMP etc.? Are you facing management loss issues?

Hi Vinit,

Attached is the requested outputs, No management loss is been seen, and did not find any input drops on interfaces.only the DHCP Receive  process is running high while the issue occurs. and at times the CPU utilisation goes down back to 34% - 45%
