Is it possible to copy commands to a router from notepad with out having to type out the commnads manually? How can I achieve this easilly? I have set up a network on a simulator and I want to just copy the commands in to the routers easilly. Is this possible? just curious

Yes it is possible. Simply copy the text in your notepad and then paste

the config into the router. Make sure the router is in config mode to start with ie.

router(config)#

then cut and paste your commands.

Wow that was so simple. Thanks

Also, there are commands that should go first in the configuration and not the same order as the "show run".

But unlike reality, you can't cut-n-paste in just one go (particularly if your configuration is long) because of the buffer.

  • Yeah I noticed, also if you dont have the same exact intefaces it will ignore the ones that do not exit and some other drawbacks. Kinda not too bad to get lazy with a sim but def not for live scenario.
