How to reset user name on Cisco Catalyst 3550

Is there a way to reset user name on a Cisco Catalyst 3550 series switch. I was able to reset the password, but it turns out that the user name was also changed.

yes, if you can get to privilege/global config mode (Switch#)

try to do:

no username

username <username> privilege 15 password <password>
