HSRP with Multiple interfaces/groups issue

Don't know know to title this issues so I will give the problem.

I have 2 routers ( Cisco 3845's) both running identical IOS's.   Each router has identical 5 networks on it  with one network each being different.

I have HSRP set up on the identical 5 networks.

Your standard Fail over senario.

The Problem

ON one of the routers one network is not seeing the other router in the same network,  Will not Ping or traceroute.

And HSRP stopped working ( both were thinking they were active.  which of course brought the network to a halt.

Non of the interfaces has any ACL on them,  They are plugged into a Brand new Cisco 3560v2 switch.  I have switches out the cables to eliminate that as an issues.

Any one run into something like this.   I am about to switch out the HWIC because of this.

thanks

Hi,

it looks like an L2 problem.

Your routers need to be able to reach each other within the same subnet and then HSRP can start working.

When you try to Ping the other router, do you see his IP address in your ARP cache?

If not, are the ports on the switch assigned to correct VLANs?

BR,

Milan
