Hi. Trying to make an aggregated port (two 1Gb links)
asr1001x <-----> juniper ex4200
Juniper side reports that there are no issues (no drops or errors). But cisco port-channel shows some crazy output.
asr1.core#sh int port-channel 1 Port-channel1 is up, line protocol is up Hardware is GEChannel, address is 4001.7aa9.bfc0 (bia 4001.7aa9.bfc0) MTU 1500 bytes, BW 2000000 Kbit/sec, DLY 10 usec, reliability 255/255, txload 1/255, rxload 1/255 Encapsulation 802.1Q Virtual LAN, Vlan ID 1., loopback not set Keepalive set (10 sec) ARP type: ARPA, ARP Timeout 04:00:00 No. of active members in this channel: 2 Member 0 : GigabitEthernet0/0/4 , Full-duplex, 1000Mb/s Member 1 : GigabitEthernet0/0/5 , Full-duplex, 1000Mb/s No. of PF_JUMBO supported members in this channel : 2 Last input 00:00:00, output never, output hang never Last clearing of "show interface" counters 00:12:39 Input queue: 0/750/0/0 (size/max/drops/flushes); Total output drops: 0 Queueing strategy: fifo Output queue: 0/80 (size/max) 5 minute input rate 22000 bits/sec, 25 packets/sec 5 minute output rate 167000 bits/sec, 25 packets/sec 6835 packets input, 787595 bytes, 0 no buffer Received 18446744073709478303 broadcasts (0 IP multicasts) 0 runts, 0 giants, 0 throttles 4294967264 input errors, 0 CRC, 0 frame, 0 overrun, 0 ignored 0 watchdog, 3627 multicast, 0 pause input 9522 packets output, 8805514 bytes, 0 underruns 4294271840 output errors, 0 collisions, 0 interface resets 5 unknown protocol drops 0 babbles, 0 late collision, 0 deferred 0 lost carrier, 0 no carrier, 0 pause output 0 output buffer failures, 0 output buffers swapped out
Such value shows as soon as I reset counters. The only similar issue with such error - https://bst.cloudapps.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCsj27761/?rfs=qvred and actually referring a switch and an old IOS.

Both interfaces on port-channel 1 are showing some unknow protocol drops:

0 lost carrier, 0 no carrier, 0 pause output

For now traffic is passing through the aggregated link without problems though I need to test how load balancing is working, but I think it's not important/related right now. Just wanted to clear things out on those errors.

Hi Vudex,
Looks like the user in the below post was having similar issues:-
https://community.cisco.com/t5/switching/unknown-protocol-drops/td-p/1064330
Could DTP be the cause of the drops?
11-05-2019 05:12 PM
I guess it can't, because I have a Juniper switch on the other side of the link which doesn't support DTP.
