inspects Trafic from L2 to L7

Hi Folks

1)do we need Firewall balde to protect our servers from the inside users, or the IPS does this job as IPS inspects Trafic  from L2 to L7

2)can the IPS protect us from DoS Attack,Host DoS Mitigation

The IPS is meant to protect against attacks. It is NOT meant to protect from unauthorized access. Depending on your environment, you may want a FW between your users and servers. It all depends on what your business requirements. If you "trust" your users, then no, if you have any doubt about trusting your users, It won't hurt to install one.

An IPS can have a hand in mitigating a DOS attack, but it's better to have a firewall working in conjunction with your IPS. I wouldn't say an IPS will fully protect you from everything though.
