AFAIK null interface provides an alternative method of filtering traffic which your Acces list also provides but it ofcourse avoids the overhead involved with using access lists.
Its again a logical interface similar to your loopback and tunnel interface but dont forward or recieve any kinda traffic.
normally we configure static routes towards the null interface by that we can direct the undesired network traffic to the null interface.
