IOS choice for an old uBR7246VXR router

I'm thinking about experimenting a bit with an old uBR7246VXR (NPE400) router that we have around here - it's currently running IOS version 12.3(9a)BC9, and I'm having a bit of a trouble choosing a newer IOS for it.

I found two locations on Cisco's download site that seem to match the hardware:

- "uBR7246VXR Universal Broadband Router" lists 12.3.23-BC as the latest version available:

https://software.cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=268438030&softwareid=280805680&release=12.3.23-BC&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=ED&reltype=latest

- "uBR7200 Series NPE-400 Network Processing Engine" lists 12.3.23-BC10 as the latest version available for 128MB of RAM, and also offers options for 256MB:

https://software.cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=273556260&flowid=267&softwareid=280805680&release=12.3.23-BC10&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=ED&reltype=latest

So, which link should I go for?

Thank you.

You're going to get maximum functionality for experimenting by going with the IP+ feature set over the base feature set. Still, this is a broadband router running IOS 12.3.23 mainline, so you're going to be limited in the features available.

This unit is based on the Cisco 7200 platform and uses the same NPE modules, so it may be worth shoehorning the standard 7200 IOS into it to see how much functionality you get. Worst case scenario is that you have to reload it with the original software.
