Hello @poojaryp1974

Yes, "line vty" configuration is necessary to enable SSH access remotely to a router. For a N540x router, the configuration involves accessing the CLI, entering global configuration mode, specifying the virtual terminal lines (vty), enabling SSH transport with the "transport input ssh" command, and optionally setting additional parameters such as login authentication and timeout settings...and so on.

Once configured, the router will accept SSH connections on the specified vty lines, allowing for remote management and configuration !

Best regards

Hi M02@rt37 ,

What you are referring to applies to IOS, not XR. The NCS540 is an XR based device. Please refer to the following documentation.

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/iosxr/ncs5xx/system-security/73x/b-system-security-cg-73x-ncs540/implementing-secure-shell.html

yes it required - The number of allowable SSH connections is limited to the maximum number of virtual terminal lines configured for the router. Each SSH connection uses a vty resource. (depends on the platform to platform).

basic should work : (thinking that you have AAA configured or username and password configured) also control=-plan you allowed or restricted to SSH.

line default
 transport input ssh

#show line to check the lines
