Is possible for Hwic-4esw one port connect to multi branch?

Dear all,

I would like to ask you about Hwic-4esw card. let me tell you about my system.

At HQ i have Cisco Router 2811 with Hwic-4esw. on port F0/0 and f0/1 used. so i bought card Hwic-4esw for connect to branch.

So from hwic-4esw connect to cisco switch 2960 and 2960 connect to all branch by firber point to point.

Note: for configuration i use VPN connection from HQ to branch.

so is it possible for do like this?

Hi,

Yes, you can use an HWIC-4ESW card to connect multiple sites (as long as you configure a Layer 3 VLAN and make those ports belonging to the VLAN.

This is because the card is a L2 switch.

So, if you can logically create a VLAN, you provide it with IP address, and create a tunnel or terminate a Layer 3 connection.
