Isp to router connection

Dear Customer Service,

I have this brand new Cisco Router RV340, but cannot connect to my TalkTalk router. I contacted them and I was told that they do not allow any router to be connected to their modem. My question is: Is there any list of ISPs that are compatible with this Cisco router? I am willing to change ISP because of this.

Any ISP can offer this Service can connected, Most does PPPoE 

DHCP client, static IP, PPPoE, PPTP, L2TP, transparent bridge

If you want to use an exiting provider Like Talk Talk

you can try to connect like this

ISP(TALKTALK) -------TALK TALK Router----(ethernet)  ----(WAN0- RV 3XX) --users should work.

Thanks for your quick reply, but not fully understand it. Do you mean I should use sth like Putty to type in these commands?

No, you do not need anything on CLI(using Putty) - as RV does not support a console, what I have described was you can use an exiting talk router, behind an ethernet connection RJ45 cable connect to WAN 1 port on RV3XX Router.

Attach your rtr to the modem port. (see below)
You rtr should then obtain an ip address from the modem and from then on you can create your own little network behind your rtr if you wanted to.

If the rtr isn’t able to obtain a dhcp allocation then it’s probably because the modem is tied down via mac- address maybe for your laptop/pc possibley though the initial setup it asked you to perform, If so then what you can do is spoof the port of the modem into thinking its connected to the laptop/pc by giving the rtr the mac address of your pc and the pc the mac-address of your rtr.

I guess this is how I managed to sort it out. Finally, it is working! At the config wizard, I put down my computer's mac instead of the router's and it is working now.
