L3 3560 Switch

Hi,

I have 2 switches.One is Hp procurve 2650 semi manageable  & other cisco 3560 layer3 switch.

In both switches 3 vlans are configured. Hp switch trunk port (gigabit port)is connected to L3 switch trunk port(gigabit).

The default gateway is L3 switch. But when am configuring with trunk port of Hp switch as 1000 speed & L3 switch as 1000 then traffic is not flowing & not pinging the gateway.I tried all the options like auto 1000,Full 1000 but not working.

If i change the configuration to Full 100 or Auto 100 or Half or auto half in both the switches then its working.

Myquestion is why traffic is not flowing or gateway is not pinging when configured with 1000 speed ports at both trunk of the switches.

Please help.

Warm regards

What is the model number for 3560?

Are you sure you are connecting gig to gig and not 100Mb to Gig?

are you using cat6, cat5, etc...?

HTH

Reza

Thanks Reza for ur prompt response.

Cisco Catalyst 3560G-24TS

Yes both switches are connected to gig to gig.

regarding the cables let me explain the connectivity.

[Second Building]Hp switch trunk port --->cat6 I/O box (cat6 cable used)-->Cat6 I/O box to --->[First Building]Cat6 I/O box(cable used Cat5)--->Cat6 I/O box to Cat6 patch pannel(Cat5 cable used)--->Cat6 cable to L3 switch trunk port

Warm regards

Hi King,

I see, you are connecting multiple buildings using copper cable (mix of cat 5 and cat 6).  Are you within the distance limitation of cooper cable which is about 100 Meters?

Do you have fiber runs between the buildings?

Reza

Hi Reza,

After coming to office checked again regarding the cables from one building to another. All are connected to cat6 cable as well as cat6 I/O.They are within 100mts.No fiber is running.

Upgraded the firmwire of Hp switch also but not working.

Am totally confused.

waiting for ur reply.
