LNS and Radius Server Connectivity

Hi All,

I'm in the process of designing a solution that will terminate and number of DSL sessions to provide direct internet access for subscribers and access into our network for sevices such as hosting.

I have created a basic configuration for the LNS (Cisco 3900 series router) which will have two interfaces, one interface will connect to the L2TP provider's LAC and one interface will connect to our edge routers to provide IP transit.

I'm trying to decide where to place the radius servers and best practises with this type of deployment. Is it a good idea to connect the radius servers directly to a spare interface(s) on the LNS or can these be connected within our core infrastructure? Does it matter just as long as there is connectivity between the LNS and radius servers? Also should the radius servers be configured with a private IP address and sit behind a firewall with NAT?

Many thanks,
