is it necessary for a peer to peer connection that loopback address must be odd-even, say router 1 Lo0 10.96.253.65 and router 2 lo0 10.96.253.64?

No there is no such restriction. Why do you ask?

Hi,
There is no requirement for such a thing. However, most providers will have a convention for addressing WAN links where they will use the lower (odd) or higher (even) IP address of the assigned /30.
I would appreciate you rating the post if it helps.

As long as your ip address is within the same subnet, they will work.
