Hello Ibrahim,

the network device has a BGP full table on it and the CEF table that is loaded on each intelligent linecard is too big for this specific linecard. This is a possible explanation.

note that if you have implemented multipath BGP with multipath as-path relax the use of memory by CEF has increased as it has to store for each IP prefix all the possible paths ===== > increased use of memory and memory issues

( I tried to guess from your other thread on BGP questions, the above may apply to you or not)

Hope to help

Giuseppe

Hi Giuseppe

thanks for ur reply , i always see y help all other in this great forum ,so thanks a lot for ur valuable time

yes this is asr 1000 with bgp , but only received default-route from ISP,pls how to solve this issue

thanks

Ibrahim

Hello Ibrahim,

this is very strange and it looks like a memory leaking issue as the SIP linecard has 512MB and your router is not dealing with a BGP full table.

In this case I suggest to open a Service Request with TAC.

Hope to help

Giuseppe

hello Giuseppe

maybe because i have configured toward neighbor the "soft-reconfiguration inbound"?

how to open service request with TAC?

thanks

jamil

Hello Ibrahim,

no that command should not be the root cause of high memory usage on a linecard when accepting only the default route.

About opening a service request: this can be performed or by the final customer or by the Cisco partner that sold the router to you depending from case to case. You may have to talk with your manager on how to proceed on this.

The first requesite is to have a valid maintenance contract entitled  to the customer or to the Cisco partner.

A CCO account with associated the contract for the device is needed then you go to support  from cisco website.

then you go to "contact Cisco for support" on the bottom of the page and you click on "open a support case".

You will be requested to identify your device using the chassis serial number, this info will be compared with the contracts associated to the CCO account you are using.

In case it is the Cisco partner that has to open the case you have to pass all the relevant information to them.

Hope to help

Giuseppe

thanks Giuseppe
