Is there a tool for calculating the MTBF of a modular Cisco Router / Switch.
I.E. if I take a 6500 chassis and add 2 supervsor modules, 2 power supplies and a couple switch modules, what is the MTBF wihtout having to trawle though the datasheets for each product

each component is given a specific MTBF.
to be accurate, you should look at the MTBF for each component.
you can then compare all components in a system and take the lowest MTBF of them and use that as a number to go by, for the system as a whole.
there is no documentation that just states components and their MTBF so you will have to view each data sheet to get the accurate information you are looking for.

If I take the data sheet figure for the 9600 chasis, which is 61320 hours, can I improve the reliability by adding redundent power supplies or does the figure stated in the data sheet already include the redundant backplane and power supply as the above figure would be the point of failure by 400%
