Multi-Site Internet Redundancy

We have 4 sites that are all connected together and are all routable across the LAN. We will be adding internet to all 4 sites and need to have redundancy. We will be using a default route for each site. What would be the best way to configure redundancy as we want to have the primary internet and one backup? I am thinking a floating static would work the best for us.

Hi,

If you are running Dynamic routing protocol between sites. And they have default static routes to the Internet. I think you can configure floating routes.

Hi ,

There a number of ways you can do that.

From the current statement i am not sure if all the four routers are going to send the traffic out or only one of them will do and other remain standby.

HSRP is one option where you can make one router active and other standby. GLBP can be run in all four routers and it will load balance your traffic as well.

Yes all four routers are sending to the internet with four different default gateways. Then we need each router have at least one backup route.
