Multicast Redundancy?

We run multicast on our network and all is operational and working fine. We basically source a video stream from HQ out--- One-to-Many setup.

There's a single RP (located at HQ) at this point but would like to setup 2 or more RPs for redundancy and load balancing possiblities. There are several hundred remote sites connected by a telecom provided and controlled MPLS cloud with eBGP peering. The Telecom will only support multicast PIM sparse-mode on the WAN and nothing more with respect to multicast.

The network is currently setup with IP PIM sparse-mode and configured with Anycast and Auto-RP at the HQ site.

We plan to setup additional RPs at several remote sites. Based on our research, It appears MSDP is required but since the telecom will not support MSDP, we are researching the potential options to connect CE-CE peering (bypassing the PEs at both ends).

We also utilize a multicast Many-to-Many setup, utilizing Bidir PIM, sparse-mode, auto-RP and for redundnacy we utilize a phantom RP configuration - flawless operation and extreamly fast!!

Currently, MGT is not keen on any SSM options.

ANYONE know of a valid option or two for our RP redundnacy issue with Video (1-to-many)?

Thanks

Frank

you can't really bypass the PE.....

I would try with a simple GRE to see if a "light" tunnel would do it.... What the ISP is implementing in its cloud? AToM or L3VPN?
