Native VLAN + ALLOWED VLAN

Hi,

I want to know if router on stick router use native and switch use allowed word and vice versa than router will ping to host if we use same VLAN for trunk and access.

Suppose that VLAN 2 for trunk and access now if I use

1-Router (NATIVE VL 2)---SWITCH(ALLLOWED VL 2)

2-Router(NATIVE VL 2)---SWITCH(NATIVE VL 2)

3-Router(dot1q only for VL 2)---SWITCH(ALLOWED VL 2)

4-Router(dot1q only for VL 2)---SWITCH(NATIVE FOR VL 2)

so in this situations router ping to PC or not.

Hello,

1 will not work - vlan 2 also needs to be native on switch

2 will work

3 as long as dot1q is used on both sides then this will work

4 will not work - vlan 2 also needs to be native on router

In order for it to work you need to have encapsulation set on both sides to match, either ISL or Dot1Q and either make both native, or make it both sides tagged (non native)
