We are setting up a 4321 router for the first time and need to configure the nim-1mft-t1/e1 as a serial card for WAN only. I have googled it and read through the cisco links but they are all geared toward PRI set up. The commands currently entered on router are:
card type t1 0 1
controller t1 0/1/0
linecode b8zs
framing esf
Sh ip int br shows the serial port but as a PRI "Serial0/1/0:0 "
What command do I need to disable the PRI so its a WAN card only?
Thank you

Hello,
did you follow the guide below ?
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/routers/access/interfaces/NIM/software/configuration/guide/4gen-t1-e1-nim-guide.html#task_1106491

Yes I followed this guide. However, we do not need to configure a lot of what is listed. I have tried different commands but nothing sets the card for WAN only. We do not want this to be configured for PRI or ISDN

Hello,
do you have 'network-clock synchronization automatic' enabled globally ?

Thank you. We config the channel group. The serial port was still showing up with :0. Originally we thought this meant it was a PRI, but after reviewing another router in our environment, we think this is ok to be a WAN config
We have it configured and are waiting to test it, which will probably be next week.

So under the controller, if you configure "channel-group 0 timeslots 1-24" instead of "pri-group" it should create a WAN serial interface.
I checked a 4351 on my network and if you have neither configured under the controller it shouldn't show any serial interface. Is there a chance it was configured as a PRI then removed which is causing what you are seeing?
Try the channel-group command and see what that does. If not maybe a reload (if possible) without anything under the controller configured would clear things up.
