Hi

I have a lab with some  asr901 and c2800.

I am trying to hide the WAN from the customers.

mpls ip propagate-ttl (default)

Effect: TTL 253, traceroute showing the 5 hops in the WAN

no mpls ip propagate-ttl forwarded

Effect: TTL 253, traceroute showing the 5 hops in the WAN,(exactly the same results).

What am i missing here?

I have a pc pinging anouhter PC at the other end of the WAN lab cloud.

These pc:s are connected directly on asr901 routers that runns MPLS.

You can put this command in both the edge routers in Config mode.

no mpls ip propogate-ttl.

This will work for sure. Please reply

Hi and thaks for your replay

This command is configured on all LSR:s on the path and then rebooted just in case.

I have tryded without the "forwarded" option but still the same effekt.

The effect that i am looking for is that the icmp replay chould have ttl like 254/253 and traceroute chould have about 1 or 2 hops, not 5.

I get ttl 253 that may be correct but i dont whant to see the the WAN hops.

If i change the accessports to the pc:s so it is not a part of a vrf, so it just uses the global routing, the ttl become 250 like it would be with ordinary routing.

Hi Daniel,

The command "no mpls ip propagate-ttl forwarded" will hide all LSRs in the core except for the ingress and egress LSR.

I think i need to go for a TAC on this one, it could be a "feature" on these new ASR901.

The ASR901 has no support for ths feature, but in the future it will.
