NSR/NSF

Hi,

I am reading now a little bit about NSF and NSR.

NSF is actually graceful restart or am I wrong? It waits first when a RP is shutdown and after the holdtime it clears the neighbor relationship?

NSR is a feature that does not tell the neighbor that a RP switchover is occuring and it does not communicated with other neighbors?

Please correct me if I am wrong and if you have some more information please be kind to write it down.

NSR looks like a better feature because a new neighbor adjacency is not needed.

Do I have to use NSR with NSF or just NSR?

Here is a link about HA

Hello Smailmilak,

your understanding is correct and I appreciate your efforts to understand this multi-vendor world

NSF is available only on Metro ethernet devices, including those that respect MEF 21, MEF 9 and so on, but I'm not allowed to mention an example of them here.

I would like to give you 5 points for your present, but the system doesn't allows this

Hope to help

Giuseppe
