OSPF authentication

Hello All,

We have a large network running ospf, we have not implemented ospf security yet on our network.

I appreciate your suggestion about ospf authentication implementation without outage on the network built with 200 routers.

Hi,

To avoid any service disruption, you must turn on OSPF authentication per interface instead of per area. Apply the following config on the link you want to migrate:

interface 
 ip ospf message-digest-key 1 md5 
 ip ospf authentication message-digest
!

Be sure you applied the config on both side of the link before the OSPF Dead Timer expires.
