I am reading "OSPF Network Design Solutions" cisco press book and found following on Point to Multipoint interface type.
I am little bit confusing of this statement as current ios use unicast for OSPF packets (Except Hello and Hello use multicast) .
1.Is this valid for old ios versions ?
2. If it is for old ios , is it safe to read this book to understand OSPF protocol ?
Thank you very much for your kind support

Hello @Ariyarathna ,
you can ignore that book it does not provide very useful information.
Read Jeff Doyle and others routing TCP/IP volume I if you are really interested in learning routing protocols.
The first edition was even more in depth.
The point to multipoint non-broadcast network type is Cisco proprietary and allows to assign a cost per neighbor even if they are out the same interface or sub-interface.
This is the key take away.
Hope to help
