OSPF "passive-interface default"

Hi All,

I am doing changes to the Remote site router where i have to clean up OSPF settings by setting "passive-interface default".

Do i loose access to the Remote host as soon as i enter "passive-interface default" ?

What is I make "no passive-interface fa 0/0" (Lets say Fa 0/0 is my WAN) & Give "passive-interface default" ?

Will that makes the OSPF Neighbor on Fa 0/0 down ?

Else "passive-interface default" sets all interfaces to Default ?

Thanks & Regards,

Prasanna Kumar Desireddy

Many thanks Paul,

My only concern is, Will "passive-interface default" rewrites the " no passive-interface default fa 0/0" ?

Thanks & Regards,

Yes absolutely  -  if you apply passive-interface default  when you already have the no passive interface xxx applied it will overwrite the passive interface command Until that is you reapply the no passive interface xx

Hello

Passive default will NOT allow any OSPF adjacency to form on your ospf interfaces, So if you apply this command then any exiting ospf adjacencys will go down until you use the no passive interface xx relating to its necessary ospf interface
