ospf - redistribute static

I tried redistributing static to ospf and got the following message 'Only classful networks will be redistributed'. ospf being a being a link-state protocol I thought would support redistribution of classless subnets. is this normal or am i missing something.

The default is to redistribute classful networks. If you want to redistribute network subnets then command is

(config-router)#redistribute static subnets
