Hi all,
we just started OTT services in our network. The most of the customers are connected via wireless with devices, that can prioritize traffic properly if the traffic will have the 802.1p/DSCP/ToS value correctly configured prior to the traffic entering the PtMP acces points.
The whole OTT platform is running on /28 subnet. I need to setup 802.1p/DSCP/ToS value to this subnet.
The core router is ASR 1006, the core switch is Catalyst 4506e, the acces switches (where the APs are conncted ) are catalyst 2960x/s, 9200 or some new huawei boxes.
Can you help me pls how to handle this properly to have L2 QOS for this services? And on whch device i need to make what to run it smooth?
is possible to setup the DSCP value on core switch only?
How can i check if the packest from OTT source are really priorised when they arrive on access switchs?
Thank you
Dave

Hello,
what is the traffic flow for the streaming service ? Is the ASR your edge device ? I guess a topology diagram would help in order to visualize where the traffic comes from and where it goes, in order to configure the proper QoS settings.

Hello,
the OTT straming server are directly connected to Cat4506e to routed VLAN interface in portchannel (in port channel there is several more vlans that we dont want high priority). I think the best will be to use a Cat4506e to set s dscp value to packets thats source address is 155.10.48.0/28 (for eg). Becouse Cat4506e is the core switch that handles all downliks, including NATed services from ASR.
IDK if the switch can handle the marking and priorisation on whole switch, or it will bee needed to asign policy on downlink interaces.
On ASR i want to use an L3 priorisation inside policy. But at this moment i need to handle L2 qos for APs to be able to make priorisation on wireless L1-L2
