i.e
dhcp is giving the host the follwing
10.11.12.23 255.255.252.0
Gateway is 10.11.12.1
However the IP configuration for
the switch that this is connected to is
10.1.12.51 255.255.252.0
gateway is 10.1.12.1
10.1.12.1 255.255.252.0

You will need a VLAN for the 10.11.12 network and trunk across the uplink to support the 2 subnets.
When a client wants to exchange data it looks at the source / destination IP and mask. If outside the mask it will forward to the default gateway no matter what it is. As long as the DG can be accessed

Hello Richard,
what you see can be normal:
it is different the second byte:
10.1
10.11
compare
sh run int fx/y of the port to which the PC is connected with
sh vlan
sh ip interface br | inc Vlan
the user port should be in a different Vlan of SVI interface Vlan
Edit:
they are in a different ip subnet but you can have multiple routers on a single ip subnet, one can be an HSRP VIP and one a physical IP address
Hope to help
Giuseppe
