What kind of certification are you trying to get your hands on to? Based on that these devices may or may not be enough for practicing.

Infact this may be enough for a CCNA beginner level certification. I can see that the versions on the router is very old so the latest features might actually not be there at all?!

I am trying to practise for the CCNA test.

Hello hmschroeder,

In addition to Shelly, you can simulate routers as per your needs on gns3, gns3 is a kind of emulator available free for practise.

just have a look at http://www.gns3.net/ - if you read things in deep, you will get more idea, even you can connect your physical switches with gns3.

hope this helps

Yes, I agree you will have more flexibility with dynamips/dynagen or the GUI version GNS3 as far as routers and switches go.

http://www.blindhog.net/ is a good resource with video tutorials etc to get you started. The GNS3 website is als overy helpful.

On the contrary, with the devices you have...

The following topology

will be good for practice.

router ---- switch ===== switch ---- router

router -------|

For real CCNA labs availabe out there on the internet :

http://www.google.com/images?q=CCNA+labs&hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=4Z2&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&prmd=ivnsfd&source=lnms&tbs=isch:1&ei=m4UsTZntE8X6lwf5qJiQDA&sa=X&oi=mode_link&ct=mode&ved=0CBgQ_AU&biw=1584&bih=776

There are many network diagrams and you can choose the best that suits your hardware.
