Problem resetting RMA'ed 4451-X

Hi,

I am trying to factory reset a 4451-X Router to the default configuration.  We've customized the config, but now when it reboots it reports a bunch of bootflash errors, then reboots again.  Is there any way we can reset this thing?  I can access the rommon mode by issuing a break on initial boot, but that's the only prompt I can get to.

Thanks!

Hello bwgreen99,

Once in Rommon, change the config reg to ignore startup.

(configuration register bit 6 (0x0040) so that the startup configuration (usually in NVRAM) is ignored.)

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/routers/access/4400/troubleshooting/guide/isr4400trbl/isr4400trbl02.html

Once router is back up, copy startup into running config.

Hopefully this will get you back up.

Look in the logs for a clue to why it was rebooting.

What were your bootflash errors?

Hope this helps,

Thanks - I was able to get into it and get it ready to go back!

Your welcome.
