Hello everybody,
I had recently aquired a new Cisco 1841 but there is somthing really annoying and I can't figure it out.I need to connect port F/E00 to a PC with a PCI Lan card using a cross-over cable.I connect both but the light on routher port remain turned-off.I changed my Network card and still the same.
The interesting point is that when I connect th cable to my old suppermicro server, the light become on.I also tried it on one of my friends PC with an onboard network card and it was also ok.I am really confused!
The network cards function normaly when they are used inside a lan.
I updated cards driver and still the same result.
Any Idea?
Is there any requirments for network cards?
Network Cards:
- D-link 10/100 FAst Ethernet dfe530TX
- Realtek 10/100 PCI NIC Family 8100
Thanks

If you have used that PC and LAN card with other devices and it works well, then it suggests that the issue might be with the 1841 and its interface. Perhaps you can post the output of show interface and post the configuration of the interface on the 1841?
Have you tried connecting other devices to the 1841? Have you tried using the cross over cable to connect the 2 FastEthernet interfaces of the 1841?

Dear Richard,
Yest I have tried all.It woks when I connect it to my server. It also works when I connect it to one of my friend's PC but doesn't work in other PC.I know it is not logical.
One thing I have in my mind is that all of the cards that work have 10/100/100 ethernet and all who don't work have 10/100.
Can it be the case?

Hi Nirann,
Can you please connect router interface to the any other PC network card and then check what is the status.
