Problem with MTU SIZE - Cisco 1111

Filip Chris

Hello Team,

This is my first time that i use IOS XR and the Cisco 1100 series and i have a problem with the MTU size on specific Interfaces. To be more clear i have changed the MTU size (9216) on the two Uplink ports GigabitEthernet0/0/0 & GigabitEthernet0/0/1 but even though i have changed the mtu size on the VLAN interface the port that is assigned on the vlan 10 (GigabitEthernet0/1/0) still uses mtu 1500.

I tried to change the mtu size on the Int Giga 0/1/0 but mtu size command is not allowed. The client (XXX.XXX.0.2) tries to ping Gateway (XXX.XXX.0.1) with size 1700 df and all the packets are dropped as you can see on the output.

My question is if the rest interfaces Gi0/1/0 -7 ) support mtu size bigger than 1500

Bellow is my CPE output "

Hi Filip

I am using Cisco IOS XR and the MTU change works well on Gigabit interfaces.

The commands to change are

Interface X

mtu ......

! or specify the mtu for specific protocol

ipv4 mtu ....

ex

you change the MTU under the SVI of VLAN ?
If yes then I think this config must be done in Global Mode.

mtu 9012
ipv4 mtu 9000
ipv6 mtu 9000

Thank you all for your answers, importunately the specific device, uses the first and second Int as route ports and the others as combo switchports. I transferred the service to another cpe (3945 e) for the momment.
