Proposed NTP Setup.

Hi,

At the moment on our site some of our Cisco devices are a few seconds out and in some cases, they are a few hours out. We hope to sync up all our Cisco devices to our Domain Controllers as they are configured as NTP Servers.

What I was proposing to do is:

Preferred timesync for HQ is DC01, with back of DC03, DC02 and DC04

Preferred timesync for HA is DC02, with back of DC04, DC01 and DC03

Preferrend timesync for some Branch offices to be sync up with HQ or HA depending where the traffic routes. Our Branch offices are coded. RED route to HA and Green route to HQ

Hopefully the visio diagram will make more sense and the config.txt file as well.

Can you let me know if I am missing something or if I shouldn't do it the way I can thinking of.

Getting your Cisco devices to run NTP will be helpful since it will get them to a uniform time. I do have a concern about your plan. You state that your Domain Controllers are configured as NTP servers. Is that really the case? By default Windows uses SNTP rather than NTP. It is possible to have Windows run NTP by installing software specific to NTP. It is not clear whether your Domain Controllers are really running NTP or whether it is the default SNTP. Perhaps you can clarify this?

Hi Rick,

We configured the ntp on the Domain Controllers through the registry.

Our main pdc is configured as in the screen grab. Then all the other domain controllers get its time from the main PDC.

The of the NTP server is our internal clock which sync's with an external clock.

I hope this makes sense.
