Hi,
Im struggling to find a good explanation of the " Packets dropped by policing" statistic from the "show mls qos command"
When I run show mls qos on our 7600 I get the following (I have omited the other modules). What does Packets dropped by Policing actually mean? When viewing the policies im not seeing no where near that volume dropped, and this number is incrementing 2.5million every minute.
----- Module [7] -----
QoS global counters:
Total packets: 13938737037240
IP shortcut packets: 0
Packets dropped by policing: 236449519003
IP packets with TOS changed by policing: 420866164251
IP packets with COS changed by policing: 4515482042258
Non-IP packets with COS changed by policing: 880552
MPLS packets with EXP changed by policing: 0

Hi ,
A little more information. I have looked at all of the policies assigned to ports on Module 7 and none of them Police drop packets. They police-dscp-transmit, but no drops, and indeed in the qos stats Im not seeing no drops no where near what the "show mls qos" is giving me. Any pointers would be appreciated, so documentation for "Packets dropped by policing" seems to be non existent.

Hi Lee,
Can you please post the configuration of your MLS Qos setup?
