Please advise, in case if telco consider ethernet overheads for 10Mbps link, should we shape the link for lower bandwidth or use full 10Mbps?

Hello Webstd.design,

shaping takes in account L2 overhead so you can shape average at 10 Mbps

Hope to help

Giuseppe

In which cases should I use

shape average 9500000 95000 0

instead of full 10Mbps?

Can you provide the link where it's mentioned that shape consider L2 overheads

Yes you need to consider L2 overhead in your shaping otherwise you might send traffic over 10m with l2 overhead and this traffic will be dropped/policed at the PE side instead of being buffered by your shaper at your end

Thats why Considering L2 transport overhead as mentioned above is Recommended

Hello Webstd,

yes what you would like to configure is correct.

I tried to look at QoS command reference but I couldn't see clearly stated that L2

overhead counts for shaping. However, this is what you can see if you test the feature.
