"system received a software forced crash" even after trying different IOSes

My 3845 router went in to rommon mode today morning. I tried four different IOSes and still when booting it says

"system received a software forced crash"  

and some checksum mismatch.

what could be the reason? Please help. I am really stuck here

Usually if you experience a software forced crash then changing IOS is the solution. I am sorry to hear that you have tried 4 versions but none of them have fixed the problem. What were these versions and how different were they? The only thing that I can suggest is to try another version and to try one that is a significantly different release level.

The issue was fixed by changing the combat flash. It was faulty it seems.
