Remote Networking

Dear All

Can you advice me on selecting a Cisco product for the following application:

I need to connect to two devices at a remote site where there is only a weak 2G/3G mobile network signal available.

The devices is equipped with ethernet LAN communication. On my side I have a decent high speed internet connection.

So is there a mobile router with ethernet ports. The router ca be retrofitted with one or more high gain external antennas.

I will use the link to upload a file with a size of less than 50MB on a weekly basis. I may also have to download information to the site (run time firmware program) of less 5MB. It would be a bonus (not essential though) to have the ability to view real time information at the site (stuff like temp, wind & humidity data).

Will I require a VPN on this router? Please advice on these technical parts.

The devices already work well at the office LAN with a Cisco Catalyst 3560-CX.

I don't want to use one of those square 3G modems with the serial RS232 port. I don't have the ability and knowledge to setup and maintain a server.

I just want to connect to the devices as if I am right there, in the mountains 350 miles away; while I am actually sitting in the office...

Best regards,

Mel

yes required VPN so files can be move to specified location in secure manner.

you need to have VPN Server to accept the same connection on the destination location.
